The FIFA World Cup matches, which FIFA announces during a special live TV broadcast, are scheduled for June and July 2026. The final of the FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the US is on Sunday, July 19, 2026. The tournament consists out of 104 matches in total, made up of 72 group matches and 32 knockout matches.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup schedule starts with a unique number of participating countries: 48 in total. The tournament also consists of a record number of groups: 12 in total. Each group consists of four countries. After this first phase, a total of 32 countries will advance to the knockout phase. This second round starts with the sixteenth finals. The 2026 World Cup ends via the eighth finals, quarter-finals and semi-finals with the final on Sunday, July 19.
