
An important part of the 2026 World Cup soccer will take place in Mexico: three stadiums have applied succesfully. These are the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City and the BBVA Bancomer Stadium in Monterrey.
According to the United Bid’s plans, 10 of the 80 Update March 14, 2023: 104 matches at the 2026 World Cup will take place in Mexico: 7 matches in the group stage, 2 in the round of 32 and one in the round of 16. Update, March 14, 2023: due to the change of format from sixteen pools of three to twelve pools of four, the original stadium division of the host nations will be changed. Now a total of 104 matches have to be distributed.
