This page is no longer applicable because the World Cup 2026 schedule does not start with sixteen groups of three countries, but with twelve groups of four countries. The original plan of sixteen groups was changed on March 14, 2023 to the new format based on twelve groups.
More information. Original information:

The World Cup has three matches scheduled for Group N. The draw of the 2026 World Cup determines which three – still to be qualified – countries will end up in this group. Each country will play one match against the other two countries, which means each country will compete twice in the group stage. If the final score is a tie, a winner of the group match will still be declared: not by extending the match, but by immediately taking penalty kicks as a tiebreaker. It is up to the countries in Group N to finish in the top two. Together with the fifteen times two top countries from groups A to M, O and P, the total amounts to 32 teams that advance to the round of 32 (16 finals).
